BACKGROUND

Learning to design for trust when the stakes are high

I joined Roblox for a three-month internship as a product designer on the Safety organization’s Accounts team. Over the summer, I worked across several parts of the account security experience, from signing in across devices to recovering compromised accounts and accessing backup codes. I worked closely with PMs, engineers, and content designers across each project, and got to experience firsthand how complicated account security can be. Across the three projects I worked on, I got to tackle a wide range of problems within the account experience.

RESULTS

Creating impact for millions of Roblox users

The work I shipped had the opportunity to reach millions of Roblox users. Here are some of the results:

  • Redesigned Roblox's cross-device Quick Sign-In from end-to-end, growing it from <1% of daily logins to ~40% at launch.

  • Designed a self-serve Account Takeover Recovery flow to help compromised users secure accounts and reduce reliance on agent-assisted recovery, which currently costs Roblox $19M annually in Customer Support.

  • Revamped backup-code recovery with clearer education and streamlined copy/download actions, targeting 10.3K related support tickets per month.
